Built on a greenfield site, the flagship Tier III data center, with an overall building area of 25,500m2, offering 40MW of critical IT power. Our client engaged Equans Data Centers, operating as Bouygues Energies & Services, to deliver their strategic project while bringing their global design and built methodology to local data center industry requirements and standards.
Design in innovative ways to increase reliability, efficiency, and sustainability
Equans Data Centers provided end-to-end data center solutions bringing design and build expertise and supply chain management. This holistic approach enabled our client to move forward with its capacity planning while bringing live resilient data center infrastructure on time.
Building at speed from the start, we approached the project in three phases and ensured consultative process planning with our client and supply chain partners. Our partners, Bouygues UK, a group company, delivered in partnership the first project phase for the shell and core construction of the building and all surrounding areas. Finishing the data center with a rain screen façade brings an aesthetical architectural character to the building.
Through phases 2 and 3, we seamlessly integrated the specialist mechanical and electrical engineering design, followed by internal data hall fit-out, infrastructure installation, and five-stage commissioning. Our expertise covered data center communications and security ensuring IT infrastructure protection.
The coordination and interaction between all disciplines and stakeholders are the key factors in delivering data centers reliably and at speed. To do so, we digitalise our design and build approach bringing digital technology – REVIZTO, REVIT software supporting seamless progressing to deliver projects in quality and time.
Intelligently designed data center
Working collaboratively with the client and the end-user during the design stage, Equans Data Centers experts created the completed facility for the long-term requirements aligning with the local industry standards and requirements, such as ASHRAE, CIBSE standards, and many others.
Supporting client technical specifics requirements, the design experts carried out our meticulous space planning and taking consideration for structural obstacles to install the cooling system and technology on the roof of the building. They created a Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) module guaranteeing the proposed evaporative-free cooling systems that negate the need for the compressor in the cooling cycle and provide adequate circulation within the data halls. Delivering more power from a smaller footprint, we integrated lithium-ion batteries into the data center UPS infrastructure that provides benefits of lower long-term operation costs, less risk, and reduced cooling costs while being more energy efficient.
Improving data center air quality
Enhancing the performance and quality of the data center, we brought positive pressure into the entire building, avoiding containment of the data halls and carrying the air pressure through the corridors. This distinctive feature helps prevent the lifespan of the equipment while reducing the operating cost.
Ponds installed to play a vital role in reducing environmental impact
An attenuation pond, also known as a stormwater management pond, has been installed to play a vital role in reducing environmental impact. This pond captures and controls water runoff, preventing erosion, flooding, and pollution of natural water bodies.
Species are an important part of our ecosystem. Giving thought to it, we made our client’s data center hospitable for – birds, bats, and bugs, providing a habit for the species living around the infrastructure.
